Description
East Moline, Illinois is interested in the commercial/industrial development of property immediately upstream of Interstate 80 in an area that lies within the floodplain and delineated floodway of the Rock River. The community has reached out to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity who in turn has asked the IDNR, Office of Water Resources to preliminarily investigate the challenges and opportunities associated with potential development scenarios in the river’s floodway. Development in a floodway requires permitting and potential floodplain mitigation measures to minimize impacts along the river.
