Village of Vernon Hills v. Heelan
In 2009, William Heelan had been a Village of Vernon Hills police officer for approximately 20 years when, in responding to an emergency call, he slipped on ice and fell on his right side, suffering a hip contusion which aggravated preexisting osteoarthritis in his right hip.
