People v. Smith, William
A 1998 shooting on the streets of the south side of Chicago resulted in the death of a 14-year-old for which this defendant was convicted by a Cook County jury of first degree murder and aggravated firearm discharge on an accountability theory. The defendants police-station statement indicated that he drove the vehicle from which the shooters, armed with guns, jumped out. On direct review, the appellate court affirmed.
