Allocation of Governor Ryan's Fiscal Year 2003 Budget for Higher Education
On February 20, 2002, Governor George H. Ryan proposed a fiscal year 2003 state budget totaling $52.8 billion, an increase of $839.6 million, or 1.6 percent, over fiscal year 2002 appropriations. The proposed budget includes $22.7 billion in state general funds, $684.2 million, or 2.9 percent less than fiscal year 2002 appropriations. The $245.0 million recommended increase for education includes $78.0 million for higher education and $167.0 million for elementary and secondary education.
