Press Release: Chicago-Naperville-Arlington Heights, IL Metro Division. The not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 6.1 percent in September 2021 from 12.2 percent in September 2020. The last time the September rate was equal to or lower was in 2019 when it was 3.3 percent.
