The Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan is required to file an annual report to the governor each calendar year that includes the financial statements and significant operating factors for the year.
The Illinois Green Government Coordinating Council (the Council) promotes the incorporation of pollution prevention and resource conservation practices into government management and operations. The Council works with state agencies to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, conserve water, increase recycling and reuse of materials, incorporate green building principles into new construction and renovation projects, and acquire and use environmentally-friendly products. The reports highlight success stories and proposes a green agenda for the coming year.
Illinois EPA received a grant to develop a plan for a wetland monitoring and assessment program. A Wetland Technical Working Group comprised of individuals from Federal, State, and local agencies and entities was convened. This program builds upon the existing wetland efforts of the Illinois Dept. of Natural Resources' Critical Trends Assessment Program, conducted by the Illinois Natural History Survey. Illinois will work to update its portion of the National Wetland Inventory.
More youth prevention programs, drug treatment, and offender monitoring potentially will reduce drug use and violence in Illinois, according to a 2005 statewide needs assessment survey sent 1,561 law enforcement professionals. This Research Bulletin examines the responses received to the survey, which replicated a similar one conducted by the Authority in 1996. Eight different professional groups were surveyed, including police chiefs, court clerks, public defenders, states attorneys, judges, probation officers, juvenile detention center administrators, and victim service providers.
