Report on the Use of Non-Consensual Eavesdropping Devices During 2012

Notices requesting eavesdrop statistics were sent to the state's attorney of each of the 102 counties in Illinois. The participating states' attorneys forwarded to the ISP reports containing the following information: the number of law enforcement personnel involved in the seizure of intercepts; the total cost incurred by the respective departments for all activities relating to the eavesdrop, including salaries, equipment purchased, and other needed resources; and the total number of Illinois law enforcement personnel authorized to monitor, install, and/or possess non-consensual eavesdropping devices and who are trained by the ISP Technical Investigations Unit to participate in eavesdropping. The numbers provided in this report are based on figures submitted by the reporting counties.

Many of the plant operations took place before most environmental regulations (see chart), so a potential existed for releases to air, water, and land. Preliminary Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) sampling, conducted in 1992 and 1993, indicated the presence of metals in onsite and offsite soil (including residential yards), surface water, and sediments. These metals include arsenic, barium, cadmium, cobalt, copper, lead, manganese, mercury, silver, sodium, and zinc. These metals occur naturally in the environment, but the samples from the facility indicate elevated levels when compared to samples collected from a nearby community. New Electronic Requirements for IFTA

Public Act 096-1384 mandates the electronic transmission of all returns, applications, and payments for IFTA. Beginning October 1, 2012, you are required to electronically submit your Form MFUT-12, Motor Fuel Use Tax IFTA License and Decals Application. All required payments must be made electronically. Beginning January 1, 2013, you are required to file your Form MFUT-15, IFTA Quarterly Return, electronically. All required payments must be made electronically.
