Benchmark sediment monitoring program for Illinois streams : data report for Water Years 1998 and 1999

The Benchmark Sediment Monitoring Program for Illinois Streams was initiated by the Illinois State Water Survey in 1981 to generate a long-term database of suspended sediment concentrations and instantaneous sediment loads. The program is now part of the Water Survey's Water and Atmospheric Resources Monitoring (WARM) Network, which monitors climate, soil moisture, surface water, groundwater, and sediment throughout Illinois. This report summarizes the suspended sediment data collected for the program during Water Years 1998 and 1999. All the techniques used in the data collection process and laboratory analyses are based on U.S. Geological Survey procedures and techniques. The report appendices present tables of instantaneous suspended sediment measurements, particle size analysis, sediment transport curves, and plots of instantaneous sediment concentrations for the period of record for the current monitoring stations.

Attitudes of Residents in the Greater Chicago Region Toward Prescribed Burns and Ecological Restoration

A self-administered mail survey of 8,079 residents in 9 counties of the Southwestern region of Lake Michigan (6 in Illinois, 2 in northwestern Indiana, 1 in Wisconsin) was undertaken during February through April 2002 to determine residents value orientation, attitudes toward, and knowledge of ecological restoration in tall-grass prairies and oak savannas of the region. Specific focus was given to attitudes toward prescribed burns as a management practice. A total of 1,690 (21%) completed questionnaires were received. Although the overall response rate was low, the original sample reflected an over-sampling of the 9 counties. The final response was within the 95% confidence interval for a bivariate response given the population of the region. The results of the survey are the basis of this report.

A dense raingage network has operated in Cook County since the fall of 1989, to provide accurate precipitation for use in simulating runoff for purposes of Lake Michigan diversion accounting. This report describes the network design, the operations and maintenance procedures, the data reduction methodology, and an analysis of precipitation occurring during Water Year 1999 (October 1998 through September 1999). The data analyses include 1) monthly and Water Year 1999 amounts at all sites, 2) Water Year 1999 amounts in comparison to patterns from network Water Years 1990-1998, and 3) the ten-year network precipitation average for Water Years 1990-1999. Also included are: raingage site description, instructions for raingage technicians, documentation of raingage maintenance, and documentation of high storm totals.

This document provides a comparison of electric sales statistics for calendar years 2004 and 2003 for the following Illinois electric utilities: AmerenCILCO Interstate Power and Light Company AmerenCIPS MidAmerican Energy Company AmerenIP Mt. Carmel Public Utility Company Commonwealth Edison Company South Beloit Water, Gas and Electric Company All utilities included in this comparison follow the Uniform System of Accounts as prescribed by this Commission in 83 Ill. Adm. Code 415. The statistics presented in this comparison rely upon data filed with this Commission by the utilities in the Form 21 ILCC, as well as, data from the FERC Form No. 1 and clarifying information from the utilities. This comparison provides statistics for four categories of service: Bundled Service. Delivery Service-Power Purchase Option. Customers in the DS-PPO category purchase electricity directly from their utility; DS-PPO revenues include the delivery service charge, the transition charge, the transmission charge, and the generation charge. Delivery Service-Interim Supply Service. Customers in the DS-ISS category purchase electricity directly from their utility; DS-ISS revenues include the delivery service charge, the transition charge, the transmission charge, and the generation charge. Interim Supply Service is a short-term service designed for delivery services customers who have not chosen a new supply option after termination of their supply contracts. Delivery Service-Delivery of RES Retail Electric Supplier Power. Customers in the DS-RES category purchase electricity from a supplier other than their utility; DS-RES revenues include the delivery service charge and the associated transition charge. The customer counts presented are based upon each utilitys average number of customers per month.
