The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that the ramp from westbound I-55/70 to eastbound I-64 and northbound IL 3 in East St. Louis will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday, July 9, 2012, weather permitting. This exit ramp closure is necessary to remove retaining walls and construct new bridges associated with the new Mississippi River Bridge. All traffic will be detoured around this area using IL 203 to Collinsville Road to Exchange Avenue to 11th Street to Baugh Avenue to 15th Street to St. Clair Avenue (IL 3). This work is expected to be completed by December 15, 2012. The contractor on this project is Keeley and Sons, Inc. of East St. Louis, Illinois. This report is part 2 of "Watershed Plan and Phase 1 Diagnostic/Feasibility Study of Lake Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois." Pursuant to the information collected and the conclusions derived from the Diagnostic Study (Part 1) of this Report, a Lake and Watershed Management Plan (Part 2) was developed by investigating potential alternatives for restoring the water quality and enhancing the recreational and aesthetic qualities of Lake Carlinville and its watershed. This plan should facilitate future implementation of recommendations and serve as a vehicle for additional funding through the Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program or Illinois Clean Lakes Program.
