Press Release: Pursuant to 30 ILCS 500/45-70 the State of Illinois encourages State vendors to hire formerly incarcerated persons and notify the vendors of any available financial incentives or other advantages associated with hiring such persons. The act further requires that the Department of Central Management Services (CMS) report to the Governor and General Assembly theactivities undertaken by the Chief Procurement Officers and CMS to encourage potential vendors to consider hiring formerly incarcerated persons.
The Illinois Equal Pay Act of 2003 (820 ILCS 112/1-90) (the Act) prohibits employers from paying unequal wages to men and women doing the same or substantially similar work, requiring equal skill, effort, responsibility and under similar working conditions; unless such wage difference is based upon a seniority system, merit system, a system measuring earnings by quantity or quality of production or factors other than gender.
