The Champaign County Forest Preserve District (CCFPD) applied for and received a grant to conduct a diagnostic-feasibility study on Homer Lake commencing in April 1997. Homer Lake is an 83-acre public lake within the Salt Fork River Forest Preserve in Champaign County, Illinois. The lake is located in the Second Principle Meridian, Township 19N, Range 14W, Section 31; it is 3 miles northwest of the town of Homer. Homer Lake has a maximum depth of 19 feet, a mean depth of 7.4 feet, a shoreline length of .3 miles, and an average retention time of 0.097 years. The Homer Lake watershed, including the lake surface area, is 9,280 acres. The two inflow tributaries are Conkey Branch and the west branch (unnamed). The diagnostic study was designed to delineate the existing lake conditions, to examine the cases of degradation, if any, and to identify and quantity the sources of plant nutrients and any other pollutants flowing into the lake. On the basis of the findings of the diagnostic study, water quality goals were established for the lake. Alternative management techniques were then evaluated in relation to the established goals.

Program Completion, Behavioral Change, and Re-Arrest for the Batterer Intervention System of Cook County Illinois: Final Report to the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority

The effectiveness of intervention programs for men who batter is an important issue for practice, policy and research. This report summarizes a preliminary examination of outcomes of Cook County batterer intervention programs (BIP). In Cook County, 30 community programs and one court-housed program provide a state standard minimum of 24 weeks of intervention programming for men arrested for domestic violence. The specific questions this evaluation addresses are: (1) What is the completion rate of men referred to batterer programs in Cook County? (2) What is the rate of re-arrest of men completing the batterer program compared with men not completing the program? (3) Do participants change their behavior during the program? (4) Are there identifiable factors associated with program completion, re-arrest, and behavioral change?

The Citizen and Law Enforcement Analysis and Reporting (CLEAR) project, a state-of-the-art information technology system enabling Chicago police to quickly share crime information, promises substantial crime-fighting benefits, according to a project status report released in February 2005. The Chicago Community Policing Evaluation Consortium, a team of researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Northwestern University, prepared the status report on the Chicago Police Department CLEAR project. The project was supported by a federal Anti-Drug Abuse Act grant administered by the Authority. The report examined the CLEAR system's impact on police management, the department, and crime-fighting strategies, as well as on the status of the expanded statewide Illinois Citizen and Law Enforcement Analysis and Reporting system, also know as ICLEAR.
