This report was the first project in the State of Illinois to combine detailed watershed planning with a Clean Lakes study. Implementing a watershed plan in conjunction with lake restoration activities will greatly enhance the benefits expected from proposed actions by identifying proactive restoration solutions in addition to retroactive restoration solutions. This holistic approach should enhance the outcome of recommendations from this report and help the Lake Carlinville community to understand that watershed management and lake restoration are truly interrelated.
This report is part 2 of "Watershed Plan and Phase 1 Diagnostic/Feasibility Study of Lake Carlinville, Macoupin County, Illinois." Pursuant to the information collected and the conclusions derived from the Diagnostic Study (Part 1) of this Report, a Lake and Watershed Management Plan (Part 2) was developed by investigating potential alternatives for restoring the water quality and enhancing the recreational and aesthetic qualities of Lake Carlinville and its watershed. This plan should facilitate future implementation of recommendations and serve as a vehicle for additional funding through the Nonpoint Source Pollution Control Program or Illinois Clean Lakes Program.
