Waivers of School Code Mandates: Fall 2012 Summary Report

As required by Section 2-3.25g of the School Code (105 ILCS 5/2-3.25g), the following report provides summaries of requests for waivers of School Code mandates being transmitted to the Illinois General Assembly for its consideration. The report concludes with a database listing all of the requests received, organized by Senate and House districts, including those requests for waivers and modifications acted on by the State Superintendent of Education in accordance with Section 1A-4 of the School Code (105 ILCS 5/1A-4) and applications that have been returned to school districts or other eligible applicants.

Used Tire Program 2005 Biennial Report

Illinois EPAs Used Tire Program is recognized nationally as a leader in the management of used and waste tires. Prior to passage of the Used Tire Management Act in 1992, little reuse or recycling of waste tires occurred in Illinois. Through the efforts of the Illinois EPA and the other state agencies funded through the Used Tire Management Fund (via the tire user fee assessed to retail customers), more than one million waste tires are removed from dump sites annually and there currently are markets in Illinois that exceed the approximately 13 million used tires generated annually in Illinois. The signing of a significant piece of legislation in the summer of 2003 brought additional resources to Illinois Used Tire Program. Public Act 93-32 increased the tire user fee to $2.50 per tire sold at retail and will result in broader and more efficient used and waste tire removal efforts and better vector control measures at the state and local level.

This Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation CAFO Factsheet is an outreach tool, designed to assist producers as they attempt to determine whether their operations require coverage under a CAFO National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. The following common livestock production scenarios and the correlating permitting status for each are designed to assist livestock producers in determining whether an operation requires a permit. A site evaluation by Agency staff may also provide design and operating criteria by which permit problems can be successfully reduced or avoided.

US 20 bridge over the Galena River in Galena

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that construction work on the US 20 bridge over the Galena River in Galena has started. Kovilic Construction Company is beginning the project to replace the expansion joints on the bridge deck and make other minor repairs to the structure. The $288,023 contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
